Members of the Spartan Race in Oberndorf (Tyrol, Austria) yesterday morning. The picture shows subscribers of "The Beast", which leads over a distance of 20+ kilometres: uphill and downhill, through waters, over obstacles and sometimes even over someones limits . . . The most common and easiest way to cross the Kaiser Mountains . Starting from the parking area at Wochenbrunner Alm (1.080m) you have to manage "only" 2.690 ft of altitude. ~~~~~ Der einfachste und meistbenutzte Weg über das Kaisergebirge führt durch das Ellmauer Tor . Vom Parkplatz bei der <I<Wochenbrunner Alm (1.080m) hat man "nur" ca. 900 Höhenmeter zu bewältigen.

Way back from the alpine hut Stripsenjochhaus through the Steinerne Rinne (Eggersteig) to Ellmauer Tor (Kaiser Mountains, Tyrol, Austria). Compared to the forward run this trail is significant shorter and easier. It's some kind of pleasure trail, which is preferred by most vacationists. ~~~~~ Rückweg der Köpftörl-Runde vom Stripsenjochhaus durch die Steinerne Rinne (Eggersteig) zum Ellmauer Tor (Kaisergebirge, Tirol, Österreich). Im Vergleich mit dem Pensum des Vortags ist diese Route wesentlich kürzer und einfacher. Eine Plaisiertour sozusagen, welche von vielen Urlaubern bevorzugt wird.

These two summits are situated northwards from the alpine hut Stripsenjochhaus . To get there, you have to manage 750 ft difference of altitude via fixed rope routes or normal hiking trails, too. On top you have a wonderful view across the Northern Alps ans South Bavaria. ~~~~~ Diese beiden Berggipfel ragen recht unscheinbar nördlich des Stripsenjochhauses ca. 230 m in die Höhe. Sie sind nicht nur über die Klettersteige erreichbar, sondern auch über normale Wanderwege. Some weeks ago within the fixed rope route Stripsenjoch-Klettersteig , approx. 750 ft above the alpine hut Stripsenjochhaus . The Totenkirchl vis-à-vis is only accessible for real alpinist, not for mountaineers like us. ~~~~~ Einige Wochen zuvor im Stripsenjoch-Klettersteig , ca. 230m oberhalb des Stripsenjochhauses . Das Totenkirchl vis-à-vis ist nur echten Alpinkletterern zugänglich, nicht Klettersteiggehern und Hobby-Bergsteigern, wie wir es sind.

The goal of our tour, captured some weeks ago at the begin of this years season. This hut with 150 (!) beds is some kind of base camp for hiking and climbing tours within the Kaiser Mountains (Tyrol, Austria). You also may go there from the parking area at Griesneralm (Kaiserbachtal) within one and a half hour (577 meters of altitude) via an easy hiking trail. ~~~~~ Das Ziel unserer Tour, aufgenommen einige Wochen zuvor zu Saisonbeginn. Diese geschichtsträchtige Alpenvereinshütte auf 1.580 m Höhe mit 150 (!) Schlafplätzen ist eine Art Basislager für viele Wander- und Klettertouren im Wilden Kaiser (Tirol, Österreich). Vom Parkplatz Griesneralm im Kaiserbachtal ist sie in anderthalb Stunden Gehzeit über einen Wanderweg zu erreichen (577 Höhenmeter).
