Thanks Wendi, if I remember correctly it was on a military stand of some kind so it might even still be in service! :)

we actually see those up here all the time... I guess because of the big military base in Alaska and the only way to get there is through Whitehorse.
It's amazing how many of these were buried to help fill the swamps when they built the Alaska Highway in the 40's... and how many were just left to rot on the side of the road.
Now that the highway has pretty much been rebuilt, straightened and moved, you don't see as many as we used to but I always love exploring a bit of the 'back~roads' to see what I can find. There is nothing left in the well travelled places.
