The Sunday Challenge ... Unused Camera Function

The Sunday Challenge ... Unused Camera Function
I found this week's challenge pretty difficult as although the D90 is a pretty cool camera it does seem light on functions. No panorama or fish-eye options here I'm afraid.

I did fancy perhaps trying a night shot or a slow exposure waterfall, but by the time I thought about that I'd ran out of opportunities to try and pull either effect off.

Things got so bad I'd accepted I was going to fail and not have anything to post. However, with a few words of encouragement from fellow challengers I suddenly realised there were options tight under my nose via the Mode dial.

So I decided to try and use the Close Up automatic settings mode. I've done a few macro shots before, but never used this particular setting so it seemed worth a go ... all I had to do was find something to shoot!

Let's see if anyone can guess what I finally ended up shooting? ;)

Thanks Sami for the kind comment and being so quick to guess what it is ... somebody obviously eats too much chocolate! ;)

as Jon says.. "I haven't a scooby what it is" ... but it very interesting. Me thinks this week I have sorta learned that the p/shoots have more options than the dslr's

I agree with Sami, I think it's the backside of the plastic insert that candy is placed in. It turned out sharp and clear!

You're both right, it's the tray from inside a box of liqueurs, turned upside down and then shot at an angle just to try and make it a tad more interesting!

Well captured. I have no clue what this is. Packaging, perhaps?

Thanks Esther. As for what it is it's the tray from inside a box of liqueurs, turned upside down and then shot at an angle! :)

Thanks Chris ... glad we all hung in there! You know I've just realised how many times food has featured or been involved in my TSC efforts so far! ;)

and Paul, we never 'fail' at a challenge... well unless you chuck it in the bin and don't do it! or you put the forbidden sky in! oh we do have difficulties for sure, but this ain't the sunday ice cream shop! you know week after week everyone here amazes me with the effort and then they turn out a perfectly great shot!

Great closeup! Really looks amazing! I was going to say that it was those rubber inserts in keypads that get pressed and make the contacts work for whatever button you're pushing.

Pleased you like it. You've got me wondering now about those inserts ... never seen one, but they sound like a good subject too!
