Der Royal Crescent besteht aus 30 Reihenhäusern, die 1767-1774 von John Wood dem Jüngeren erbaut wurden. Die halbkreisförmige Anlage mit der im palladianischen Stil gehaltenen Fassade und dem Blick auf eine Grünanlage war die erste ihrer Art und wurde stilbildend.

Wie schöne, Gudrun, du hattest für das Foto den richtigen Standpunkt. Bei einer Studienreise kann man sich schlecht von der Gruppe entfernen, sonst verpasst man den Anschluss :-(, was mit trotz allem einige Male passiert ist. Dafür profitierte die Gruppe später von meiner Fotoschau, die ich später mit gesprochenen Kommentaren und Hintergrundmusik angefertigt hatte.

Besten Dank, Uli! Ich war da auch auf einer organisierten Tour, aber wir sind unterhalb des Crescent gestartet und dann durch die (feuchte) Wiese nach oben.
Wir hatten nach einem Orientierungsrundgang auch noch Freizeit und eigentlich eine Eintrittskarte für die Roman Baths. Auf die haben wir angesichts der Schlangen von Schulklassen aber verzichtet;-)
