The Killing Fields.

When you're having a bad day, try not to complain too much...it could be so much worse.

I found that so moving...I sobbed and sobbed.....
Makes first world problems look very....trivial by comparison.
Hope you have a really good weekend, Phill

Being there is shocking, Keith. I was too, and gutted about the whole affair.

My life changed that day, Di. I lost my faith in humanity. I was consumed by a mixture of sadness and fury.
My weekend's a bit poo...hard at work, but happy to be alive.

I guess taken at Tuol Sleng? I went there a few years back, between that and S21 it's impossible not to have one's view of the world shaken.

Yes George, this was at Tuol Sleng. I couldn't believe the remains of clothing and bones still embedded in the pathways around the excavated mass graves. It was a sobering dayout.

I think that, as much as anything, it was the remains surfacing in the footpaths on which we were walking that got to me also, Phill. Some time I'll post some more of my images from that region.

A testament to man's inhumanity to man and still it goes on.
A profound image, Phill.

It does, Dave, and it's not getting any better...far worse globally, in fact, as the years roll on.

A very appropriate posting considering the recent conviction. The piles of skulls and bones and the rusting tanks that litter Cambodia are testament to the horrors that occurred.

It was by coincidence, Esther. Whilst these pigs have been convicted, it will never undo the horrors. I still can't get my head round how it all happened within one of the nicest and kindest races of folk I've met.

Thanks Peter. I was aware of Francois, though not of his memoir. I must make the effort to obtain and read it. To have survived such a hideously bizarre occasion must be more traumatic than dying at their hands in many ways...you have to live with what happened...much like these poor fuckers being held captive by ISIS, etc. I have a docu-dvd of a Cambodian artist (painter) who was also spared because the regime liked his art. It's quite a sobering watch.
