Strangler Fig.

Strangler Fig.
This huge parasitic Fig (Ficus Religiosa) was in the act of smothering an even bigger Tetrameles Nudiflora, which in turn, was smothering the temple. Back to Nature. Angkor Wat. Cambodia.

Amazing...........that fig looks like something JRR Tolkien would have thought up!! Scary stuff and a reminder not to stand still for too long anywhere near it!!

Love the shot Phill.........very dramatic and unusual. I'd love to see a colour version if you have time. I've seen this sort of thing in movies and documentaries, but never in real life. The sheer size of that fig is just awesome. I wonder how long it took to get that big?!

I think they're a fair old age.The colour version looks a bit naff, and I don't know how to post it in the comments...I'll upload another shot soon which will give you the general idea. ;-)

I'd think this is at the Ta Prohm? A marvellous place and nature just puts humanity and our vanity right back in place. I loved it.

A beautiful and strangely compelling photograph. Amazing shot. It is like nature has created a canopy over the temple but leaves you in no doubt it could easily destroy it. Beautifully captured. I love it
