It does look lovely at sunset, Bev, though you're kind of robbed of any magic thanks to the other nine hundred and ninety nine people all talking at the top of their voices, and dozens of coaches, mini-buses and cars all joining in the 'special moment'!

I can imgine ... I remember Dad telling me he visited and loved it
but there would not have been that many visitors in those days

However you got up there.............this is superb - the light on the sandstone is gorgeous. Such a magnificent and iconic natural landmark!!

An excellent image making great use of the light, Phill. You've really captured the rich colour. It is a shame that places like this get spoilt by commercialism but I guess that's the way of the world. better that than banning visitors altogether (and losing the revenue!)

This is one spot that photos simply do not do it justice, no matter how good the photo. It has to be seen in person. Although I am not a fan of helicopters and small planes, they are definitely a fine way to see it, as can be seen from your photo.

One can't really appreciate it without walking on it. See the pools of water with small animals swimming in them. See a small variety of plants growing on it. Understand the length by walking from the climb up, past the cairn, to where there is only down slope...

Sadly in 2019, this has been closed for walking.
