Post 2020 Election: Renewal

Post 2020 Election: Renewal
Created from a Campaign Yard Sign (Mamaroneck, NY), Non-Profit solicitation envelope and Bingo® Game Board (Larchmont, NY)

After days of waiting for a result, Joseph Biden was announced the projected winner in Pennsylvania, thanks in large part to the voters of Philadelphia, home of Independence Hall where the Founding Father’s signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. As Biden’s win was announced, cheers broke out from a crowd gathered outside the White House and celebrations and dancing erupted in the streets of Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and many other U.S. cities no different than that witnessed and experienced in other countries around the world when their dictatorships had been brought to an end! If was as if the American people had won a new revolution since the heavy hand of growing authoritarianism that saw security forces violently attack American citizens has been lifted!

Like the Founding Fathers some 240 years ago, voters across America made their voices heard: “No to tyranny!" "Racial justice for all!” Even the pallor of the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans now seems a little lighter with the prospect the newly elected President will be for the people instead of for the virus!

America has awakened from the specter of dictatorship and chosen freedom! Americans can be thankful the death toll from the political violence was limited as we remember and honor the Kenosha, WI patriot who made the ultimate sacrifice for the betterment of the country – Anthony Huber (1994-2020). May our hopes and aspirations be realized and a “more perfect” and inclusive union emerge as the USA begins her renewal and reconciles with "American" values of tolerance and inclusion as well as with her global brothers and sisters.

Thank you Malik, Erhard, Judite, Udo, Rosalyn, Marcel, Xata, @ngelique, Annemarie, Nicole, Ulrich, and Tiabunna! Yes there are concerns but considering President Trump's demands to "Stop the Count!" and attempts to intimidate the news media including Fox News, didn't work, I have confidence the system will work and come 20 January 2021, he will be out of the White House. The courts will continue to rule against his challenges since there is NO evidence! Stay well!

Your artwork, William, is very creative and inspired. Well done.

With your description, though, I wished you would have provided a more balanced account of the election. We do not have the “results” yet. The Biden campaign needs to rethink what damage they could be doing by legitimizing the media deciding something so important. The media does not decide this. We should all have faith in the system, to stick to the law, and let it play out. All results have not been certified by each state for there to legally be a winner. There is a boat load of criminal activity with the ballots, and so the boat is going to be rocky for at least a few weeks. In the end we should have more integrity in the electoral process. All American's should want this for America. All people around the would should want this for America.
Christa1004 club has replied to Frank J Casella
I think what the people around the world want for America, and what America deserves, is a president who is assembling the nation, able to listen to the opposing party without denigrating them, bring together the people and especially, NOT create strife and conflicts continuously. In my opinion, this is what a great president should have as qualities.

I understand you, Frank, and I very much hope that a just decision will be reached.
But can we blame people for hoping and wishing for nothing but peace, freedom and healing? I see the 'premature' "confirmation of the election winner" as a sign of hope from people who are deeply wounded and have suffered hard. I beg your indulgence for them.
William Sutherland club has replied to Frank J Casella
I disagree Frank about my account. Aside from the 2000 race during our life times, every President-elect began forming a cabinet and selecting staff based on news projections that rely on vote tallies and margins. Heck, President Trump declared victory at 2 AM after the projection in Pennsylvania by the same news media and there were no complaints. Actually when President Trump declared victory he led by significantly smaller margins in Michigan and Wisconsin than Biden does today and a slightly smaller margin in Pennsylvania than Biden does today (44,000 votes vs. 45,000 votes). Also, aside from 2000, every Presidential candidate declared victory based on news projections instead of waiting until late November or even early December for vote counts to be certified, so why should Joe Biden be any different? At the same time, considering there is plenty of time before vote counts are certified and Electors are selected, I have no problem with recounts and verifications if it would make the 71 million people who voted for Trump more confident in the results. If there is some fraud let those responsible be prosecuted. At the same time, I doubt it's of such a scale it would overturn the results. I agree, there should be transparency and no appearance that something is being hidden since it will undermine this election and future elections. Why not ensure everything is indeed correct but until then Biden is prudent in beginning the process based on the vote counts and projections that indicate he won more than the necessary 270 electoral votes and will likely attain 306.

Frank J Casella has replied to William Sutherland club
William, history will show us that Al Gore was President-Elect for 27 days, and you'd think we learned from that - Gore vs. Bush. Also, looking at the comments from others back to me in this thread, it is assumed I'm a Trump supporter, when I said nothing about Trump but rather the electoral process. Again, I read the Constitution & found that media doesn't determine an election by their 'projections.' It's decided by VOTERS.

Well said Christa. These are the qualities that define true leaders.
William Sutherland club has replied to Frank J Casella
Frank, I remember slightly differently but the difference could be the result of what station we were watching that night. I remember the media (CNN) first projected Gore as the winner of Florida. They then withdrew it and projected Bush only to withdraw this projection too. In any event, you're correct, the media doesn't determine the winner. A projection merely gives us an idea who the winner is. In the end the vote counts must be certified, the Electors chosen who then elect the President in January. Still, Biden is prudent in planning an administration since this isn't 2000 or 1876 and thus will likely be certified the winner and selected by more than 270 of the Electors in January.

Last, maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anyone suggest you support Trump or voted for him. When I mentioned "Trump supporters" I was merely referring to the 71+ million people who voted for him since our country cannot fully begin to heal or unite if their concerns are dismissed re: verification of a free and fair election. I am close friends with some Trump supporters and don't want to see them alienated based on suspicions from their disappointment, disenfranchised or even "cancelled." As I said, we have time, so why not ensure the results are accurate.

Frank J Casella has replied to William Sutherland club
Thank you William. Yes, once we cast our vote the power is out of our hands, and then what is important is that it is all legal.

By the way, there seems to have been a software glitch with the ballots in several states that favorites Biden. This now has to be determined by the courts what to do with those ballots. The major news networks are not talking about this (yet) and the only place I have found to learn about it is newsmax.com and oann.com Hope you find this information helpful and interesting.

William Sutherland club has replied to Frank J Casella
Frank, in Wisconsin they corrected the results for this glitch. A few other states used this same software but they didn't report such a glitch. Worth looking into though, if it will build confidence in the results.

Hi Janet, I was unaware of this info when I posted the names of the two people killed in Kenosha. I have revised my statement to honor Anthony Huber alone since additional sources verified the convictions for these despicable crimes. I should have searched additional biographical information first. My apologies and thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Believe it or not, William, but I have NEVER followed an election as much as this one ! not even in my own country. But it is true that we all were more or less concerned by this major election and many people are sure relieved by the final result now.
I thought a lot of you during all those LONG days ( :o))

William Sutherland club has replied to Christiane ♥.•*¨`*•✿
The same goes for me especially since there were real concerns for election-related violence that has plagued other nations. Sadly, until the results are certified and a transition of power takes place, the threat remains. Sec. of State Mike Pompeo's remarks about "a transition to a second Trump Administration" don't help. :(

Christiane ♥.•*¨`*•✿ has replied to William Sutherland club
Heard something like that this morning ... but didn't fully understand. I am not very talented in politics generally and the American system seems very complicated.
We have the feeling here that many people did not specifically vote "an idea", but above all the ousting of an insufficiently balanced man.

As stated by Don Sutherland and implied in your words, William, the United States will rejoin the "concert of nations", and there could be no better news in these uncertain times.
The American people, but also many other peoples around the world who were in the process of resigning themselves, are regaining the hope that a global consciousness will emerge from the pandemic and the evils of the climate. And can expect social benefits from the American State again.
Congratulations and thanks to the American voters!
