Am I being watched? HFF!

A young sparrow takes advantage of our home-made bird feeder hanging from a tree branch outside a window. Hidden by the blinds, I was able to take this close up without scaring it off, but the camera's clicking sound still made it a bit wary.
The feeder has had to be "fenced" to prevent pigeons from raiding it and leaving nothing for the smaller birds. In fact, it took three successive adaptations to finally succeed in foiling the clever strategies that one particular pigeon (which my husband nicknamed "the Engineer") kept coming up with to get to the food despite the protective net: for example, he would use his body weight to weigh down one side, causing the grains and seed to slide to the edge, where he could pick them out by craning his neck in through the net, all while hanging on to the rim with his feet and keeping himself airborne by fluttering his wings... I think my husband was half entertained half ticked off to be twice outsmarted by this clever fellow :D The third design, however, finally worked out. The Engineer still studied it for a while, tried various approaches, but eventually admitted defeat and went looking for more accessible food sources.
HFF everyone! May you outsmart any form of pervicacious "engineers" out there that may be barring your way to an enjoyable weekend!

We have both pigeons and collar-doves trying to capture our bird food that is hanging from a pole-feeder. They have resorted to simply walking in circles around the foot of the pole, their circular walks are shared by our blackbirds and squirrels. They regularly make a distinctive worn path around the pole which we must re-locate regularly :)
Well done for your shot here and most interesting story Judite.
HFF, have a great week. Herb
Annalia S. club has replied to Herb Riddle clubYou mixed me up with Judite, but I will take that as a compliment because I really like her photography and her sensitivity :)))
Annalia S. club has replied to Rosalyn HilborneWe also have a lady blackbird that comes to get my attention when she needs the bird feed replenished. She waits on a nearby tree and as soon as I am done proceeds to fill up her beak and flies off to feed the little ones!
Hope you are enjoying the weekend and taking more pictures af the beautiful sites you have been regaling us with! :)

HFF and have a good weekend
Annalia S. club has replied to Ecobird clubAnd the pigeons are definitely not the uninteresting, clumsy, dull birds that most people seem to consider them. It's a pity we cannot afford to be generous to them too. In a city environment there are just too many of them and feeding them would produce a revolt among the neighbors ...
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday!
