Thank you, HappySnapper. People call them "weeds" (and in Italian the equivalent term "erbacce" is even more disparaging!) only because we have a negative perception of them, but actually they are wild flowers, just like the rest of the grasses that bloom in meadows.

I think of this kind of picture as 'Life will find a way' - a quotation from the Jurassic Park film! The colours complement each other well here.

Thank you, John. The colors, along with the contrast between the rigid lines of the building and the graceful ones of the plant, were what attracted me to take the photo. Thanks for reminding me of the quotation from Jurassic Park. It summarizes one of the central themes in most of Michael Crichton's works: namely, that, while humans have the arrogance to believe they can control natural processes, Nature will always find ways around our misguided attempts to thwart it. In a way, I can only hope he was right, because lately we are putting such a pressure on the natural world that the idea that we will reach a point of no return very soon is no longer science fiction.
Sorry for the gloomy reflections ... I actually meant the image to tell a story of beauty and resilience! :)
