A Japanese quince bush all dressed up in its fiery red spring color. I love the waxy texture and showy hardiness of these flowers.
These grow right up against a garden fence on the street side, which allowed me to stick my camera between the fence posts and take a close up of a group of blossoms surrounded by a sea of their siblings.

Merci, Danielle. We had one in the garden when I was growing up and at spring time I couldn't wait for it to bloom. Then I grew up, moved out and when I came back for a visit found that my Mom had had it uprooted to put in a vegetable garden ... :( I should probably put one in now that I have a garden of my own!!!

Thank you, ઇઉ(also for your group suggestions). Sometimes a small camera that can be manoeuvred into tight spaces really pays off! Also, it was a rainy day, the perfect light condition for these flowers whose color tends to get disappointingly washed out in bright sunlight.

Superb! I had gardens in the past and always had these as wela as true quinces and made many nice things to eat with the fruit of both (similar uses). I haven't had a garden for over 10 years now, miss gardening a lot and so shots like this are pure nostalgia!
