A Japanese quince bush all dressed up in its fiery red spring color. I love the waxy texture and showy hardiness of these flowers. These grow right up against a garden fence on the street side, which allowed me to stick my camera between the fence posts and take a close up of a group of blossoms surrounded by a sea of their siblings.

Rain, and then more rain, and after that still more rain: this has been our fall season for days on end so far ... At least it makes for some interesting textures on the leaf-covered, slippery sidewalks, though. :)

A sudden downpour caught me on the Lungarno as I rode my bike home. I remembered Palazzo Corsini has a wide covered entranceway and reached it just in time to avoid getting drenched. A work crew was putting up a glass covering over the Palazzo's courtyard and the rain distorted the translucency, blurring out the facade of the building.
