Well, it's a typical urbanisation* of this part of Spain and it doesn't remind me of anything English at all, except for the wisteria! I have never even seen that colour brick used in Britain!!
* Urbanisation. For English-speaking members: There's no direct translation but it's a relatively new housing estate, often private and/or gated (ours was once but not now), characterized by detached homes with gardens (most Spaniards live in flats). They surround many cities here and even small villages within commuting distance.

Very pretty Andy, the Wisteria over here is pretty too now, Ive always loved Wisteria, my Grand Parent's front porch had a canapy of the purple ....I'll never forget sitting on that porch with them looking at the pretty long blooms. a great shot Andy. best wishes, Sarah

Thank you, Sarah! The wistaria isn't as purple as they thought it would be, or as that of their neighbours (with more mature trees), but it's attractive none the less!

How lovely! I love to see the old English houses covered in wisteria. We had a frost last night which has ruined the flowers on my neighbour's beautiful magnolia tree!!

I really like Wisteria..................and these look gorgeous in the sunshine. Give them a year of two and they'll be even better. Very well captured Andy.

We used to have it in our front garden, but it had to be trimmed back to almost nothing when we had some building work done and windows replaced...........sadly it never recovered..!!

I never had it my gardens but when I had a part time gardening job, all my 'clients' had wisteria.

Oh I just love wisteria, the purple one. I had no idea that there were white and red varieties too. Houses and walls look so beautiful when wisteria is falling down over them.

The red won't look at its best for a year or two yet.

I hate to tell you but mine has completely destroyed its support which I'm now trying to sort out, the thought of sawing it off at ground level and waiting for it to regrow is very tempting

Somebody commented, on ipernity recently, that their's had collapsed its trellis and they had started again but that it was taking an age to regrow.
My sister planted this one two years ago and it was up against a metal trellis. More practical if less sightly in the early years.

I do admire a well trained one, much better at pruning than I am !!!!! I think it's vital to start the pruning regime while it's young. I suspect that mine wasn't a grafted one

It is beautiful, but a terrible pest here in the southeast USA. It will completely smother and destroy a forest if allowed to grow.

I didn't know that. What a shame. It occurs to me that I know next to nothing about this plant. Is it native to the southwest USA? Although I suppose if it acts invasively, the answer must be no.

Thank you, Peter! I think most things here are a few weeks earlier than in the UK, sometimes months earlier! But then the main harvest is in May and nothing much is left after that except the grapes in September!
