Thank you, Eric. I'm comparing this tree with the plant I uploaded three shots back! They look like the same plant (and yes, they are both quince) but the difference in size threw me at first!.

Many debates, from which I struggle to draw a certainty tonight (sorry!), but whatever ...:-)

I'm afraid I have zero knowledge of Quince, it looks to be an interesting tree/shrub Andy. Thank you for posting in Project 21.

You are in for a treat should you ever decide to buy some quince jelly, Maurice. It goes very nicely with hot buttered crumpets!

The fruits of my "wild quince fellas" are 1/3 the size of what we call apple- and pear-quince (referring to the shapes of cultivated quince), but!! but the aroma is really very, very well.
They are good to mix with the cultivated when cooking jam - the big ones bring the mass, the smaller wild ones the fine taste.

I mixed my cultivated quince with my chaenomeles Japonica for jelly and jam too! For the same reason, the only difference was that I didn't find or use wild quince.
I will take photos of each tree as the fruit ripens to see what difference, if any, there will be!

This doesn't look like quince to me. Usually the flowers appear before the leaves. I suppose it could be a Spanish variety. It looks more like Pacific dogwood. Nice though.

Interesting comment. I also had my doubts when I had responses to an early upload; similar leaves and blossom but both much smaller than this. I had never seen quince blossom like these in the UK and I had quince and Japonica (chaenomeles) trees/bushes there. However it appears I was wrong and that both are indeed quince (cydonia). I will await fruit growth to check finally and post evidence one way or another.
The words 'baited', 'with' and 'breath' come to my mind!

Yes - it's a type of quince and the Latin name is Cydonia oblonga. I looked that up for a positive ID.
