My daughter has about 3 pomegranate trees in her garden. The trouble is - none of us like them, so we give them away to their neighbours

Like you, Jenny I like the look of them more than the fruit itself. The juice is OK but the pips are a nuisance and not worth it, i.m.h.o.!

Great colour and a far more healthy tree than our pomegranate, which never grew well and finally fell over. I wasn't wild about the fruit either, so it's not being replaced.

They are very popular in Spain and are served as a fashionable accompaniment to just about anything served on a plate or in a glass, especially in sauces and in salads and I get fed up with removing the pips from between my teeth, often with great difficulty! Why they do it I'll never know. Not good. It reminds me of the French, who know so much about food but will insist on adding vinegar to salad dressings to be served with the finest wine, which it just murders!
