Kinbane Castle Ruins

The ruins of Kinbane Castle lie on the north coast of Northern Ireland on a limestone peninsula at the bottom of a steep cliff, now reached by a narrow staircase. Most of the outer wall is gone but this is a small section still standing with its gun port. One of the inset photos is taken through the port. The castle was built in the sixteenth century by the MacQuillan clan.

I will be back for a proper comment!
Here I am! :) About to go to bed but wanted to say hi! :) Steve and I went into Medford today--he was feeling well enough to go in to give some blood for lab work, and pick up a prescription, and also got some shopping and errands done. Still waiting on the little bugger to pass but he's so much more comfortable the past couple of days. Thank goodness.
I didn't go into any of the stores but instead took the opportunity to do some fall photography of the zillions of trees in the parking lots and surrounding grounds. What fun! I learned a long time ago that you don't need to be in a big park to find beautiful fall imagery, esp when zeroing in on leaves! Fun stuff...so many pictures, hooray! :) Can't wait to look at them all, I was too busy to get into them today, but I did transfer them over and took a glance...oooooo....pretty!
Thanks for your comments on my wasp gall--and you sure are right about the fact that there are always pictures to be found out and about--even when it seems desolate and boring, it's just a matter of looking at things differently and suddenly there are lots of wonderful photo ops! Of course, this is much easier when using a macro lens I think. A ho-hum landscape is harder to make interesting (at least for me) than macro subjects, of which there are countless subjects.
I do love that we stir the other up with desire to go out and explore! Fun, isn't it?! :)
Glad you two got home with good weather along the way. A supper of toast and jam? Yummy!
Snow on the ground...wow! Is it unseasonably cold for you guys too? I'm quite surprised at how cold it's been lately--I seem to recall it being 10 degrees warmer this time last year...maybe I'm wrong but it seems that it starts getting down to freezing in November for us, not October! And yet, it's very dry and sunny too. Climate change indeed.
I like your idea of heading out for warmer climes come Feb-March. Definitely do some research--there is so much to see, so many places we aren't aware of! Traveling for us won't be happening until March at the very earliest and I'd bet at it being later in the month...the property is so soggy but truthfully it wouldn't be a problem to leave...it's getting back up the hill where the problem is. We'll just have to see how it goes. For now, Steve's first project is making a tented tarp on top of the RV to keep it protected but with air spaces between the tarp and the RV. He'll build with PVC and has the mats now to do it--he found a really thick tarp material in a size large enough for the RV, it will be nice to have in place and finally he's feeling good enough to work on the project! :)
Oh, I haven't had pomegranate for such a long time. Yummy stuff! Worth the trouble to eat them, and really such fun! Lovely red jewels! It's no wonder Evelyn (and Nancy) loves them! :)
Glad to hear you got some hiking in--also glad to learn that you turned around on the road when it became dangerous. That sort of thing you do not mess around with.
I knew you'd enjoy the jumping spider video and information and I look forward to a hopefully nice set of pictures some time. Tough to get good close-ups though, I'll admit! The dof is a devil but the challenge is great fun! :) Good luck on seeing if you can get them to jump...hard to do if they're on a flat surface but if there's a ledge or something, it's much easier!
Re cooking--it's nice that you two have different styles--that way the variety of foods you make is much larger! I think Steve and I tend to like the same sorts of flavors but still, I make things he doesn't make so that's always nice. Tonight we had some more of the cabbage chicken I made and it really is so YUMMY! Funny because it would be next to impossible to get me to try that if I'd been a kid. No way. But it's just so tasty! :) We never tire of that one!
That's very nice that Nancy does so much cooking for Dave and Jess. I didn't remember that you had any kids nearby. That's nice though to have at least one close by!
Ok, now I'm turning into a pumpkin so off to sleepy land for me! Cross your fingers that I got some nice pictures in town today! :) And as for you, I hope you've been able to get out for some pretty snowy images of some sort! STAY WARM and STAY SAFE! :)
take good care of yourself and your wife
Sehr schöne Perspektive und Details.
