Hog Lake

When we hiked with family members recently, we hiked along the west side of Hog Lake (the east side is private property) and hiked from the north end of the lake to the south. This is the south end of the lake where there is a boat launch and small dam. From this end of the lake we headed back across the prairie.

Beautiful PiP too.

Re: your Box Elder Bug comment--heh...I too have used the coveted vacuum maneuver to clear out those creepy critters. We have no said trees around the house though, only a pine, some oaks and I think an aspen, but those confounded bugs are yearly house crashers that we really hate. Actually, I don't mind them nearly as much as Steve does--he hated them with a venomous passion! Just yesterday he pulled the window AC out of one of the guest bedrooms so he could close the window for more warmth; in the process he disturbed a grand colony of them! They fell like rain onto the bed and all over him and the floor too. UGH! I sure hate waking up at o'dark hundred to the feeling of a confounded boxelder bug crawling up some part of my anatomy. To think, your mom vacuumed them up EVERY DAY?! But I'm not surprised...they seem to come out of the woodwork at this time of year and I find them all over the walls and windows too. Also, not surprised they were piled up in the walls. For us...I'm sure we have R-45 insulation in our positively acorn-packed walls! It's a wonder we don't have a thousand trees bursting the seams! Sheesh. *shakes head in wonder* And finally, yep, can't squish boxelder beetles unless you want to unleash a mighty stink into the room and then it's on your fingers and refuses to lose its smell even after much scrubbing. YUCK!
Going back to your letter posted on my Buckeye Butterfly picture...you made Shakshuka for breakfast? Mmmmm...WOW does that look YUMMY!!! Of course I had to check and there are delectable versions that are keto style...*DROOL*! Bet your dish turned out fabulously!
I couldn't help snickering when I read the story you shared about the best place to eat dinner-- so you could dump the horrid veggies out the window! ROFLMAO, and then you didn't think to hide the evidence afterwards, you silly kids!! Heh, I bet you guys weren't ever able to learn to correct that mistake because the hole in the screen was repaired, right? LOL! I remember dumping lima beans into my milk, but of course we always hid stuff under napkins. However, I have many memories of sitting at the table for ages because I refused to eat something icky!
I hope your trip to Michigan next week is uneventful and reasonable. I'm glad you're flying...it's such a long drive and the weather is getting very dicey now. Can't believe all of the trips you've taken to be a caring and diligent son to your aged parents.
Ok, I think that's it! :) I'm continuing to have a lovely time delving into my Medford Fall pictures, so many varied and interesting subjects which turned out well. :) Anyway, have a super rest of your day! :)
