Bonne semaine.
The relationship between land and ocean is stunning
Wonderful countyside surrounded by a serene light
Very well captured, Ron
Thanks for your comments on my little spider buddy...and for the giggle at your comments that question the adorableness of our fancy-haired friend. Oh Ron...of COURSE he (or she) is darling! :D In fact, cute as a button! :D I'm glad to have surprised you with the information about how many species there are--it IS surprising, I agree! I would love to get as many pictures as I possibly can of the basically countless species, as they are each so wonderful to encounter and such fun to watch! I do believe that anyone who will stop to watch these spiders, as they make their way across one's field of vision, will become as enchanted as I am! You can see them asking questions as they go along, "OH! What's that?! Oooh, is that something tasty for me to attack?! *GASP* What is that HUGE THING looming over me?!" Jumping spiders are just plain AWESOME! :) Also, watching them jump is fabulous!
Ohhhh, look at what I found!! Please take a moment to click on this link and watch the short video at the top!! (The rest of the page is fantastic too, but the video is amazing!) www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-43996959#:~:text=%22The%20force%20on%20the%20legs,of%20flying%20and%20jumping%20robots.
Of course I cannot help but hope to kindle an interest in jumping spiders--they are the very coolest of spiders...partly because you don't need to be afraid of them! :D
BTW, being surprised at their number, isn't that the same thing about most subjects we learn more about? I used to think there was just one kind of (fill in the blank) eg clover, pine tree, moss, kind of flower or bird (instead of dozens or even hundreds of subspecies), etc, etc...this is a delightful discovery for both of us and always makes us dig deeper! :)
Wow, what a weather report! I'm sorry the plans for a family hike and outing changed due to the inclement weather, but at least you didn't get stuck in a dangerous situation with the roads getting worrisome to traverse! YIKES! Reminds me of the day Steve and I decided to drive from home up to Bend to check out some recumbent bikes at a shop there...we didn't even consider the possibility that there might be snow up higher...and so when we slowly encountered more and more snow at the side of the road and then...the snow began covering the road up around Crater Lake area, we abandoned our plans in our little IQ, did an about-face and yike-yiked home! I am hugely stubborn about pushing through things like that but we both agreed it would be totally stupid to go on! I'm glad you folks have good heads on your shoulders and thus don't end up as statistics like the ones who cannot make proper judgement calls. (The Selfie Lemmings who fall to their deaths all over the place do not need to be in the gene pool, tyvm.)
Did you guys end up finding a nice place for a hike? I personally don't mind hiking in the rain as long as it's not coming down heavily and I have my umbrella with me! (Much preferred to a hood, imo) Also, mud changes everything, no thank you very much! :D
It's fun reading about the type of cooks all of you are. Steve and I are both very good at seeing a recipe out of ingredients available. Odd because I'm not a cook most of the time but I guess I have the right instincts...whipping together something fabulous really isn't hard to do, but I guess that's something many people cannot just do. I prefer recipes of course, but will often add and change items to suit. Steve always does that and rarely sticks to a recipe verbatim. I think it has everything to do with us growing old enough to know what flavors work well together and in what proportion. I think you and Steve should have a cookoff, and Nancy and I can enjoy your fabulous results! :)
Ok, I'm out! TY again for the wonderful comments, what fun it is for me to read your latest! :)
