Lava Lands

Lava Lands
From Crater Lake National Park we headed north to the area of Bend, Oregon, where we spent the rest of the day at Lava Lands, part of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. We hiked the trails through the lava beds, walked to the top of Cinder Butte and then went on to the area of Mount Paulina. This is Cinder Butte from the trail through the lava beds. Cinder Butte is an old cinder cone with a road to the top which we walked instead of taking the shuttle bus. At the top we also walked the rim of the cone.

Well done the 2 of you on that hike. I can imagine how tiring it was. But you have some great pictures, and wonderful memories, well done.

An interesting volcanic landscape, well captured, Ron. As a matter of interest, with the trees coming through, any idea of when this was active volcanically?
