Hoarfrost
Now we are getting snow and more snow but earlier in the winter we had a lot of freezing fog and ice and these photos were taken then, this of a barbed wire fence along the lane behind our house. I have no idea why the frost formed only on the barbs and not on the rest of the wire.

I think because the wind drives the fog along a condensation point. There is a more suitable body standing perpendicular to the wind than a horizontal one. There are clearer pressure differences that promote the icing of the liquid from the fog ...
