We have had an exceptionally hard winter for our area with a lot of cold weather, snow and frost. The ground has been snow-covered since late November and we've had quite a bit more snow the last couple of weeks. In December when this photo was taken we went through a period of freezing fog when everything was covered with hoarfrost and rime.

These photos of hoarfrost were taken on one of our walks near our home. I am going to let you guess what it is the frost is covering, but the barbed wire may be clue that makes it easy to guess.

Photographed last winter on a morning when fog and frost were the order of the day. These photos, as all those I've been posting recently, were taken near our home.

I believe this was a wild rose but it is at least as beautiful covered with hoarforst as it was when it was blooming.

I believe this was Queen Anne's Lace, but it has different flowers in the photo, winter flowers.

Out on a very frosty morning, I took these photos on the grounds of Lakeland Village, a facility for handicapped persons. They have many Hawthorn trees on the property and the berries were extraordinarily beautiful with the frost.

More snow yesterday and I am weary of winter, as I have been since the beginning of November, but trying to make the best of it, we've been out many frosty mornings taking photos, this of Hawthorn berries covered with hoarfrost.

These Hawthorn berries had collected a layer of hoarfrost on a cold January morning and I spent quite a bit of time photographing them on the grounds of Lakeland Village, a facility for the handicapped.

This is not a monochrome photo, though it looks it, but a photo taken on a day of freezing fog in January. The evergreens were so covered with rime that the green of the needles wasn't even visible and the area they were growing in looked like something out of a fantasy.
Pam said yesterday that she had had two falls recently. Pam, we think of you every day and pray you may persevere and be strong during a very difficult time. Few of us can imagine what you are going through but we are all with you in these physical and mental struggles.

Not a black and white photo but a photo taken after a night of freezing fog. These evergreens were almost completely covered by hoarfrost.

The hoarfrost on these Spruce trees was so heavy after a night of freezing fog that the trees themselves were hardly visible.

Now we are getting snow and more snow but earlier in the winter we had a lot of freezing fog and ice and these photos were taken then, this of a barbed wire fence along the lane behind our house. I have no idea why the frost formed only on the barbs and not on the rest of the wire.

We live near a lake and have access to a picnic area for residents. This was the chain of a swing there on a frosty morning.

We go for a walk nearly every day and often along the lane behind our house. The lane runs through some farm land used mainly for feeding cattle and this was one of the fence posts there on a frosty morning.
