Harmony in Autumn

A favourite local walk for me, here on the banks of Dove Stone reservoir near Oldham in Lancashire. The lone tree to the left is actually responsible for my adventures in photography almost 50 years ago now.

A quite corner of my local reservoir showing the reflections and colours of our Autumn.

As the trees start to turn into there golden shades this local pond always provides a delightful place to stop and admire nature.
Christ Church (Friezland)
I pass this church quite often and in Autumn it is especially beautiful. Enjoy.
The Parish of Friezland lies at the southern end of the village of Greenfield, nestling below the Saddleworth Moors. There has been a church here since 1850 when the Whitehead family, who owned the nearby Royal George Mills, decided that their employees and other local people needed somewhere to worship near to their homes.

Land of Myths and Legends: Alaska

Seen sailing through the inside passage just around Glacier Bay, Alaska. This is certainly a wild place.
The unstable world: Margerie Glacier
This magnificent glacier up in glacier Bay, Alaska is shedding its ice continually. This is what glaciers do but this point where the glacier meets the sea is miles inland to what it was just 20 years ago. Frightening! But a delight to witness!

The size of this glacier comes into some prospective when seen with this boat. It sits between our giant cruise ship and the cascading ice itself, presumably to stop us trying to get too close. You know the captains of these cruise ships will do anything for its passengers to get better photos :)
Nugget Creek Falls, Juneau
Just outside the Alaska coastal town of Juneau and next to the Mendenhall Glacier. This is in fact the bottom of two falls, each of 99ft (30m) dropping a total height of 115m heigh (377ft). An impressive sight indeed. Judge the height by the size of the people below.

The Mendenhall Glacier is a glacier about 13.6 miles long located and in Mendenhall Valley, about 12 miles from downtown Juneau in the southeast area of the U.S. state of Alaska. (Wikipedia)

Onboard the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam. Taken from the stern, and yes it was pretty cool even for the end of May.

A very long view of this famous castle with its hinterland of Snowdonia mountains.
The Grandeur of Harlech Castle
Set on the coast of North Wales is this medieval fortification of Harlech castle in its broody glory fronting the old town. One of King Edwards line of fortifications here in Wales. Constructed between 1282-1289 now an empty ruin that is a joy to explore. It is amazing that the sea seen about 2km in the distance here once lapped the base of the rock that castle sits upon.
