Loreley
|
|
|
The siren, Loreley (Lorelei), said to lure sailors on the very narrowest section of the Rhein onto the rocks is seen here sitting at the end of the spit of land on this part of the river called The Loreley. A rather seductive view here but modesty forbade me to shoot from other angles :) Enjoy

Goodby Singapore

As our ship pirouettes within the main Singapore harbour we wave goodbye to this magnificent city after only a few fleeting hours. This was taken only a short time after a major rain storm. For you technically minded this was taken hand-held on a rocking ship hence the slightly grainy ISO 2000!
The Petronas Towers

No trip to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is complete without looking up to these massive twin towers with their connecting skybridge. Enjoy
Yesterdays sentinel

On a very lonely road near the giant 'Cow Green Reservoir' in County Durham sits this lone brick building, all forlorn. Behind is an old quarry that gives this reason as perhaps used for a shelter for the work-men. Now, just a shelter from the winds and rain for the many sheep.
High Force on the River Tees

A spectacular view from high on the left bank of this fine river. The normal viewing area is just right of the stones on the right bank
As evening calls

As the sun starts to drop this old barn is bedecked by shadows and I feel a distinct insect crawling on my neck as I slowly breath in and push the shutter button. Enjoy
A Teesdale view

As the sun starts to sink and the promise of poor weather shows in the dark clouds, we are reminded again why we take these shots.
Summerhill Falls and Gibsons Cave.

Near the famous waterfalls of the River Tees (High & Low Falls) lies this smaller river ( Bow Lee beck) with a couple of delightful waterfalls. To the right here is a large cave (where 'Gibson' a robber, was reputed to hide away from the law) which in flood conditions cannot be seen at all because the falls covers it up completely. ENJOY

Old fort lighthouse, Corfu
|
|
|
Atop the old fortress in Corfu Town stands this almost forlorn lighthouse overlooking the sea on three sides and the old town on the other. Its age eludes me as I cannot find any reference to that. This photo amazingly misses out the throngs of tourist who have, like me, climbed the heights to get here.
Mouse Island, Corfu
|
|
|
|
Corfu has many wonderful places to see and visit. Here is one of my favourite spots. Sitting on a tiny Island, reached only by boat or a narrow pier. - Kanoni, the church of Panagia Vlacherna and the Mouse Island is in fact one of the most photographed spots in Corfu. On the day we visited, it was being made ready for yet another dream wedding.

Taken from the new fort towards the old town, Small church towers abound in these tiny streets as do flowers on these balconies.
A Kassiopi view

Kassiopi on the top North East corner of Corfu is the setting for this view. On the right can be seen a lovely sandy bay which leads us to this little magical Island.

Corfu town offers so many delights it is difficult to concentrate just on one. Here we see the old fort topped by its lighthouse and also Saint Spyridon church spire. Taken from the new fort.
