The Jocobite greets us on the Glenfinnan Viaduct
Travel through the past on this iconic West Coast special steam train over the equally iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct. The driver having just pulled the whistle valve for us steam addicts raises the hairs on our neck. Enjoy

Lochaber view

Lochaber is an area in the west of the Scottish Highlands. Historically it referred to the area between Loch Linnhe and Loch Leven, around the town of Fort William. Here we are just a short distance from the famous Glenfinnan viaduct.
The glorious Glennfinnan Viaduct
This is one of the most majestic viaducts in the UK. I am here just behind the visitors centre on a nearby hill taking this, waiting for the West Coast special steam train. Glennfinnan, about 20 miles north west of Fort William is just as famous for its monument.
Glennfinnan Monument, Loch Shiel
Standing at the head of Loch Shiel in spectacular scenery stands this monument to the final Jacobite Rising. Its 18m high with a lone kilted highlander looking left from here.
Loch Nan Uamh viaduct

This very nice low viaduct carries the famous West Coast Line railroad up the port of Mallaig. It has about eight arches but this frames the pleasant scene nicely for me.
A Scottish view

Taken at 'Back of Keppoch' with the river, 'Allt Cam Carach' with my back to the normal splendid views to the small Islands. Enjoy with me this lighting toward the mainland.
Saddleworth Moor in Winter
Not far from my home, a high and sometimes desolate area. In Winter it holds a particular attraction for me, maybe you can see why?
Chew valley swing

An Autumn walk up this valleys draws me to a new addition. A bright cyan tree swing. Completely out of character with this beautiful nature shot but adding an addictive piece of interest.
West Coast ride with the 'Lancashire Fusilier'
This is one of the special 'West Coast' excursions travelling from the Highlands coastal town of Mallaig to Fort William. This is being pulled backwards by the Lancashire Fusilier (LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 5407). Funny enough the loco is based on the East Lancashire Railway at Bury just a few miles from my home! Snapped about a mile out of Mallaig.
Canal colours at Greenfield

Huddersfield canal in the Saddleworth village of Greenfield is always a pleasure to stoll along especially at the colourful time of year, my favourite.
A tribute to Panoramio
Today, Google's Panoramio has come to an end. I was a member since 2008 with over 1500 photos and 3.5+ million views but more than that, many thousands of friendly comments and shared moments, just like we see here in Ipernity. I feel bereft of a friend but fortunately via Ipernity and other photo sharing sites our friendly photo-loving community lives on. To all that followed me in Panoramio, a hearty THANK YOU.
Sunset of Rum

Taken from the mainland. Enjoy with me the scattering of light through the clouds as well as the rippling golden waters.
Eigg undisturbed
We see here the Isle of Eigg from the mainland. At a 30 second exposure the seas and clouds are softer than usual making this a very tranquil scene indeed.
Evening paddle between the Islands

As the sun descends slowly at this idyllic spot a small number of enthusiast venture out. Me and my tripod and this chappie in his canoe. Maybe he had a better adventure than me but my photo captures it forever better than a failing memory.
'Back of Keppoch' view.

Situated on the North West coast of Scotland just south of the Isle of Skye. we see here the view West towards the distinctive peak of 'An Sgurr' on the Isle of Eigg in the 'Small Isles'. Enjoy

Glimpse of Arrochar

As the early morning mist lifts over Loch Long and its mountains we see here a glimpse of the village. A real tourist trap for those visiting Loch Lomond and heading towards the Scottish West Islands too.
