Bamburgh and its castle

Bamburgh and its castle
Almost looking like it could have been built just a few years go, this is the village view of its high walls and towers. It is still intact and inhabited today and is a very popular tourist destination. Just at the base of the walls near the white van is the village cricket field. Not many chances of broken windows by the cricket ball in that side of the castle.

Wow! What a difference a change of view makes to the character of this castle! From the sea it looks unfriendly, defensive and commanding, but in this image it looks very benign and quite civilised and friendly amongst the other "ordinary" houses.

A cracking shot Herb........and a clever idea to use the PiP for comparison.

Ah yes, its easy to try and compare our castles with Germanys. You have some wonderful ones that I too have visited but these in some ways seem perhaps more ancient? Very happy that you enjoyed both views here.
