Laggan Dam, Highlands

Laggan Dam, Highlands
Seen on Loch Laggan near Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. This is damming up the River Spean and is part of the Lochaber hydroelectric scheme. Opened in 1934 and is 157ft (48m) high.

Spectacular outpouring. An interesting dam to walk across. Superb piece of engineering too.

A quick bus stop here for us Amelia. Spectacular with this water spout, which I believe is quite rare. Have you walked across it?

Thanks Toz. As you can see the weather was very much akin to our last month of it, ie - drizzle and thick cloud plus mist of in the hills as it was also warm at around 7C for the time of year. Our trip here to Fort William and later back to Glen Finnon viaduct was a wash-out to say the least. That being said, I still managed a couple of shots as can be seen here. More to come :)

I always feel a little uneasy looking down at the empty side of a dam....must be my fear of heights! Three excellent shots though Herb. I like the first PiP of the gushing water. Very well captured! Have a good new week - Rosa.

I can understand that Rosa. As can be seen in my reply to Toz, this was one of the best photos of the poor weather day but at least it was something new to me. Glad you liked the series. I did wonder which should be the main photo -this or the close-up.

Best Wishes, Herb
