Beautiful view.It seems that lighthouses are not used anymore.I wonder why.

Hi Daniela. Most of ours are still used but they are all fully automated. The lighthouse itself is most often still as original but often the attending out-houses are used for something different as for example here, they are rented holiday accommodation. The public could still wander up to the lighthouse, as I did here, they could also do a tour of the lighthouse but only at certain times. I hope this clarifies things my friend.

Ah yes, now we have the computers. I never lived at sea, but always read a lot and I loved when there was people that worked on the lighthouses, even in places where they had the change once a month. Cheers, Dany

I have seen a few spooky films and read a few novels where the lighthouse keeper had adventures in the Winter mist and rain. Ah, those were the days when an Old man lived alone for years tending the candles and bulbs. - Even, before my time! ~ Herb

I don't know how old are you, Herb, but I'm from '55 and I remember a lot of things that have really changed, maybe because until 13 I lived in a little village. When I was 6 or 7 there were 2 or 3 cars in the village :-)

Wow............that's a long old trek to the lighthouse! It's lovely to see a more unusual view of this iconic lighthouse. I love your composition and the juxtaposition of the lighthouse and the sailing boat.
