Trevose Head
A typical seascape here in Cornwall. The life-boat station is in fact Padstow Life-boat station and we are looking at Trevose Head..
Little Petherick Creek, Padstow
A view down the estuary during high tide. We are looking North East towards the Cornish seaside town of Padstow.
Looe, Cornwall
The Cornish fishing village of Looe here in all its splendour. Looking down-stream here towards the Ocean just behind the tree-laden hills here. Of course today it is a very bust tourist trap with all that entails too.
The Cheesewring of Bodmin Moor
A fine rock formation on top of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. The name derives from the resemblance of the piled slabs to a "cheesewring", a press-like device that was once used to make cheese.
Bodmin Moor and The Cheesewring
Here on Bodmin Moor near the village of Minions are a trio of interesting sights: The Hurlers Stone Circle, the Phoenix Cornish Mines and these very interesting rocks. This set being called the Cheesewring made of granite.
The South Phoenix Mine, Minions, Cornwall - for An…
Also known as the Prince of Wales shaft. Seen here from the back.
This old tin and and later, copper mine is situated near the village of Minions on the Bodmin Moor of Cornwall UK. It operated in the 19th century but closed in 1914. it was part of the Phoenix United Mine group.
Altarnun with St Nonna's church
Another view of this church but from the outside showing too the small river that runs through the village. All ready here for the village show in a few days.
Siblyback Lake Sunset
On the edge of Bodmin Moor, Cornwall. This reservoir can get quite busy during the day as it has quite a few water sport activities complete with cafe and children's playgrounds.
Here we see it in the calm of early evening, just like I like it.
Portchester Castle
An early morning look at this splendid castle in Portsmouth from across the water near Port Solent.
A pleasant walk to catch the reflections was what I came for but it seems that a visit to the actual castle with its very interesting history is also a must.
Best viewed full screen.

Good morning from Port Solent
An early morning stroll along the promenade of Port Solent, Portmouth reveals some wonderful reflections through the early misty conditions.
The sea stacks of Gunver Head
After visiting Stepper Point near Padstow in Cornwall the cliff-top path passes by this impressive sea stack just before the village of Trevone.
Porth Mear, Cornwall
Situated about 10km south of Padstow near Bedruthan Steps. Another grand coastal path walk brings us down to this small sheltered if not dangerous bay. A beautiful day and its lighting gives it quite a different feel to what it would look like in the storms that this coast often sees.
Bedruthan Steps beach and rocks
Bedruthan: from the Cornish word Bos Rudhen, meaning Red-one's dwelling. Located on the north Cornish coast between Padstow and Newquay, in Cornwall, England. Getting down to the beach means having to climb down a series of very steep steps which is not for the feint hearted or infirm. The first thing to greet you is a big cave mouth and then you really sense the size and grandeur of these rock Islands. I recently saw this view on the BBC TV series Poldark too.
Golitha Falls
Not far from Cornish town of Liskeard. A very pleasant valley of flowing river and old trees. A great walk with the rustle of leaves and sound of rushing water to calm those nerves.
St Nonna's church, Altanun
A beautiful 15th century church full of carvings and history. Not to be missed in this equally beautiful village of Altarnun, Cornwall.
Gimbletts Mill Bridge, Laneast
Re-built in 1847 after the great flood. This takes the road by the Mill itself which was built in the 17c complete with the old Millers house. For me, part of an Inny Valley walk in Cornwall.
Rails, fences and steam in Devon
Enjoy this oldie seen at the South Devon Railway station at Buckfastleigh taken some twelve years back. See here the GWR 5542, a Collet 4500 Class 2-6-2T (Tank Engine) that was built at Swindon in 1928 to a design by Churchward. If it looks rather unusual, that’s because another steam engine is just poking its nose out in front of this too. I think you will agree, a rather enjoyable shot of fences even without the engine.
Enjoy full size on black.
HFF, have a great weekend.
Start Point Lighthouse fence
The walk up to Start Point Lighthouse is one of the best coastal walks in South Devon, along the South West Coast Path. The dramatic cliffs and stunning coastal landscape is breath-taking. Just below here, we saw seals playing.
I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb
