Lightroom
- 15 Jan 2015 - 4 commentsWe had our first camera club meeting last night. It was an anonymous critique night where we submitted two photos each. I didn't get burned too bad considering I just grabbed the first photos I found without watermarks. The interesting thing about the night was their use of Lightroom for viewing and editing the photos. I'd purchased a copy of Lightroom some years ago, but I'd yet to load it on the computer with having most of my time taken up working on the other house. I was impressed with Ligh…

Lewco Variable Vignetter
- 02 Dec 2014This was my big purchase at the photography swap meet Sunday. The Lewco Variable Vignetter should be an interesting tool to try in the darkroom someday soon. They had several cameras at the swap meet which would have made nice additions to the collection, but I managed to leave them there. The photography swap meet was just my first stop of the day. The Super Sunday Automotive Swap Meet at the state fairgrounds was going on at the same time. Pontiac parts were few and far between there and I fin…

David McLean Parry Mansion
- 26 Nov 2014 - 3 comments3650 Spring Hollow Road, Indianapolis, IN This is not my photo, but I attended a talk on this house last night. The Historic Automotive group I belong to had their annual meeting and speakers on the restoration of the property as a part of the program. David McLean Parry was an industrialist who made his fortune building buggies and stage coaches. He moved onto building motor cars and ran short of money. John North Willys bought out the company and moved it to Ohio. Parry continued on with…

Tuesday ...
- 29 Oct 2014 - 8 commentsI went to my first camera club meeting tonight. Something I've been thinking about for a while, but I wasn't all that sure I had the time for it. Seemed like a friendly group of people. We spent the evening learning how to set a custom white balance in the camera. Something I never do, but I can see the application for it.

Busy Week/Weekend
- 26 Oct 2014 - 2 commentsIt has been a busy week here and I did finally get both the new stove and new refrigerator delivered and installed. I was suppose to get a new set of book shelves delivered today, but their truck broke down and they claim they are going to be delivering them early Sunday morning. I told them I couldn't be waiting around all day for them like I did today. I'm planning on attending a birthday party for my Aunt Sunday and I've got a bit of a drive to get there. I did spend a fine fall day doing the…

Another One Gone
- 19 Oct 2014 - 8 commentsIt was another busy Saturday here! I had errands to run and I've been out shopping for a new stove. The refrigerator is on its way out and I bought a new one the other day to be delivered on Monday and I thought I'd go ahead and get a new stove while I was at it. My shopping trip got cut short when I got a call from a young lady who had contacted me earlier in the week about the light table I had for sale. They were in town today and were wanting to see it. We set a time and and met at my house.…

Busy Sunday
- 29 Sep 2014 - 6 commentsSunday is normally my photography day, but I had to put that on hold to attend my little brother's wedding. He's actually been taller than me since about 10th grade. They had a professional photographer there taking pictures, but Mom was pretty insistent I take some for her. Lighting was not very good for no flash photos, but I did get a few of them to come out. It's unlikely I'm going to have anything for the Sunday challenge this week. I had a couple of ideas, but no time to try them out.

Bill Wood's Business
- 27 Sep 2014 - 4 commentsAngelica mentioned this book a couple of weeks ago and I sent off for a copy. It arrived in today's mail and I did a quick scan of it after supper. Lots of everyday photos and the kind of photo that if you took them today ... you would say, "so what?" ... but forty, or fifty, or so, years later they record a time long past and often things that are just a distant memory for some of us and for other's ... a revelation to how things were! The 1959 Pontiac was sure to catch my eye, but even more so…

2014 Carmel Artomobilia Car Show
- 24 Aug 2014 - 2 commentsI made it to the Carmel Artomobilia today, but as you can see from the crowd at the car show the photo opportunities were greatly reduced and required quick shots and a lot of patience. I didn't take near as many photos as I might have otherwise. The kids and grand kids were also there. Paul (the other grandfather) had his Dodge Viper in the show. A very hot and sticky day and some of the cars left early as thunderstorms moved into the area.

Ansel Adams's Exhibit
- 02 Aug 2014 - 8 commentsThe Ansel Adams's Exhibit has been running for several months now at the Eiteljorg Museum www.eiteljorg.org/ and while I've been intending to go for nearly as long as it has been open ... this was the last weekend and it forced me to get moving on it even though my summer cold had me wanting to stay home and in bed. This is Ansel Adams's photo of Georgia Totto O'Keeffe. He knew her well! There were many images available to buy at the Ansel Adams store, but this one really spoke to me. Unfortun…

Newest Family Member
- 30 Jul 2014 - 10 commentsFresh out of the desert southwest ... my newest old truck arrived today. I won a government auction a couple of weeks ago and I've been anxiously waiting for its arrival! It needs a little work before it becomes my daily driver, but then that's often the nature of these auctions. I think the girls will like riding in the cab with me again once I get all the desert dust out of it! :-)
