    Lost Boys
This photo was taken at the beginning of the infamous "Underwear Mapping Day". This day was designed to be a stress release for the many days spent mapping with strangers and their idiosyncrasies. The requirement ... underwear had to be worn on the outside of the clothing. I'm posing with the group of guys known as the "Lost Boys Scorched Earth Mapping Team" The team earned their name the week before mapping the front range outside of Las Vegas, New Mexico. We were required to map in pairs in th…

  • Dagmar ... and the rest of the story.

    Dagmar
Dagmar (born Virginia Ruth Egnor , November 29, 1921 – October 9, 2001) was an American actress, model and television personality of the 1950s. As a statuesque, busty blonde, she became the first major female star of television, receiving much press coverage during that decade. Dagmar Bumpers As originally conceived by Harley Earl, GM Vice President of Design, the bumper guard elements would mimick exaggerated artillery shells and were placed at either end of the front bu…

    Jan's House
Party time here finally! The house sold yesterday and I can finally get back to doing my normal stuff! This photo is from my aunt's collection and shows her and a group of her friends having a great time at the house! I'm guessing it's prior to 2007. It's a young Drambuie in the foreground. Jan is wearing the Route 66 t-shirt. A girl friend and Jan drove Route 66 to California back in 1963 in Jan's new Pontiac Tempest convertible. It was one of her many great adventures and she talked about danc…

    Angel Mounds
I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to visiting everyone's photos, but I hope so soon. I took off last weekend and spent it touring southern Indiana with the Friends of the Pleistocene and I'm way behind on my work and well as my hobbies! We are also in the final weeks of closing and I've got a million things to do to get the house ready to sell. From the inspection report I received ... you'd think it was the mound builder's house above!

    Mecum Spring Classic
It has been a bad weather week for the Mecum Spring Classic ... cold wet and rainy! I did finally go for a couple of hours this evening and took a few photos. Lots of changes this year and not for the good when it comes to taking pictures. They are lining the cars up in the cattle barn for the auction floor in the old coliseum. Bad lighting in the coliseum and the cars are parked too close together in the cattle barn ... which has the best lighting.

    Duesenberg Collage
The dedication for the new restored Duesenberg sign was today. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the event. The top photo is mine and the two bottom photos are from the Indiana Automotive Historical Society www.facebook.com/IndAutoHisSoc to which I'm a member. I considered shooting the new Duesenberg sign for an oxymoron photo in Sunday Challenge group. The oxymoron here is the engineering building of one of the most famous luxury cars in the world and the preferred car of the biggest st…

  • The Marathon Begins

    Jan's House
The marathon has started again! Though I won’t be running 26 miles 385 yards … there will be a lot of days where it will feel like it! I thought the marathon analogy was appropriate since the first official day of the house listing was the same as the running of the Boston Marathon. We took the house off the market last winter for two reasons: 1) I needed a break from all the showings. 2) We were going to add a bathroom which seemed to be a sticking point with a lot of the potential buyers. Unf…
