Monday ... the big Day!
- 03 Mar 2014 - 2 commentsI've been watching them work on the sinkhole for the past couple of weeks and Monday 3/3/2014 they are going to start removing the Corvettes from the hole. Eight fell in and they will remove the top three on Monday. Here is the live link to watch it online live at 9:AM central time zone: www.corvettemuseum.org/webcam/camera6.shtml

Once belonged to ...
- 28 Feb 2014 - 4 comments... famed photographer Alfred Chaney Johnson, or so the ad said. It finally arrived with the documentation. And while the documentation showed Alfred Chaney Johnson once owned a Yashica Mat camera, it also showed it was a 1957 Yashica Mat and not the 1969 Yashica Mat 124 which arrived in the mail. Alfred Chaney Johnson passed away in 1971 and it's possible he could have owned the camera, but unfortunately there is no documentation to support it. The good news is ... I got it bought right even wi…

Slow Progress
- 19 Feb 2014My new old enlarger has made it from the garage to the temporary darkroom, but it has yet to get a trial. I have plans to convert a room in the basement into a permanent darkroom, but progress has been slowed due to the weather. I've spent way too much of my spare time dealing with snow removal this year! Also, the girls refuse to go to the basement and are very unhappy when I do. I plan to remove the ceramic tile from the stairs and I'm hoping that will encourage them to come to the basement an…

More on the Sinkhole Collapse
- 16 Feb 2014 - 2 commentsA view from the bottom of the hole to show how big this event was under the museum. GM is going to pay for any repairs to the cars which insurance doesn't cover. Still ... there are cars whose condition is unknown. The construction firm will spend the next few weeks to stabilize the building and the walls of the hole ... and then the removal of the cars. You can follow the work at: www.facebook.com/corvettemuseum Interesting Blog article: hatechalk.blogspot.com/2014/02/that-sinking-f…

Tilted
- 28 Jan 2014The cold weather is still persisting here and I don't get out for photos as often as I would like to. It did hit a balmy 34 degrees on Sunday and I stopped for a few photos on my drive home. I took a few photos looking at perspective with my digital as well as my old Yashica 44 LM. It will be interesting to see what the Yashica saw that day. I like shooting photos with the Yashica. It takes a lot of time to setup the photo, but you feel like you've taken a photo when you're done…

Snow Ready
- 06 Jan 2014I spent the day getting the trucks ready for the near blizzard conditions and I pulled them off the street to keep them from being buried by the plows. I had a lot of trouble with getting the old Chevy in position and I think the rear differential isn't working like it should. I think it's locking up on one side instead of switching back and forth. The good thing is that they already canceled work tomorrow. I shoveled my walks about 5 times today and I could easily do it again with all the blowi…

Another Day In Paradise
- 28 Dec 2013No new pictures today and unlike the picture of my old Chevy ... the day was bright and sunny and such a rare thing for late December. I originally planned to get my old Chevy out and load it full of tree branches which I've been meaning to cut, but I ended up making a couple of runs to the local Pull-A-Part yard for some new wheels. I noticed last night someone had decided they needed the spare tire from my old Chevy more than I did and ran off with it. The spare tire and wheel had been bumping…

Back Home Again
- 27 Jul 2013 - 1 commentI went down to the storage unit this evening and brought my GTA home. After eleven months of dust sifting down through the car cover it was a bit dirty and ... a tad grumpy on the drive home. Too dark by the time I got home for photos, but here is one from a while back. Last summer, I drove it from the storage unit to the house and from the house to the storage unit. I'm hoping to do a little better this summer!
