4CV Muster and silos

One of the trips as part of the Renault 4CV Register's Muster gathering, was to the painted silos at Colbinabbin. If I can organise myself adequately, I'll have more images of the silos tomorrow. In the foreground is a Renault Florids, with another behind to the left, while at right is a row of Renault 4CVs. Of course, we mustn't forget the bench, so as I head for my bed late on a Sunday evening, I'll wish everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week to follow.

More on the Murray paddle steamers

No not taken somewhere over 100 years ago, though the subjects have been around that long. In the PiPs, another image of the Adelaide (taken at the same time), also other paddle steamers. Finally, a PiP of the "combined" Murray River flag. thought to have been around in various forms since the 1850s and flown by all the Murray River boats. These conclude my series on this theme.

Steam at work

This is the stoker at work on the "PS Pevensey", on which we cruised the Murray. It still has its original steam engine from 1911, using wood as fuel. In the PiPs, more views of the engine which is fully open to viewing by passengers (behind fences). Finally, a view of the paddle wheel operating, visible through a porthole. Happy Fence Friday and have a great weekend, everyone.

Here comes 'Emmylou'

Early on our river cruise we had passed the "Emmylou" at her moorings (PiP 1). Not long afterward she came past us, heading up the river under full steam (PiP 2).

Previous image in B/W

Thank you for all the very kind comments on the colour image of Echuca Wharf (PiP). It is indeed a very historic site, so I thought I'd process the image as b/w to see how it works. For your interest - it could indeed have been taken a century ago!

Echuca Wharf

The Murray is Australia's major inland river and was once the main inland freight route, using paddle steamers - now operating for tourists. This is the wharf at Echuca, the main port for northern Victoria, with the height of the wharf reflecting the need to continue operating at varying river levels (see also PiP). The paddle steamers had to be relatively small with shallow draft, to allow operation during drought (and even then many became stranded until rivers again rose). Yes, there are benches on the top deck of the wharf and on the paddle steamer. Wishing everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week to come.

Stagecoach

This seemed an appropriate image to follow that of the silo art featuring cart horses. Taken at the tourist village part of Echuca, where we were holding our National Muster of the Renault 4CV Register of Australia. Some of the little Renault 4CVs are peeking into the image in the PiP . Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and a safe and enjoyable weekend.
