Past Birdsville Racecourse
On the dawn flight in the Cessna, heading out of Birdsville and past the Birdsville Racecourse at about 1500 ft. The annual race meeting is a major outback event. That's the Diamantina River (also in the PiP).

Buckle macro
For Macro Mondays group 31/7/2023, topic #320. "A buckle" . I must admit that, until taking this macro, I hadn't realised the leather belt looked so tired. :-)
Flying benches
This Cessna 210 has benches for six. I'm happy to report that mine was comfortable. This was taken just after returning from a dawn flight over the remote Channel Country (with flooding rivers when we were there) and the edge of the Simpson Desert. The PiP was taken as we took off into the dawn, with the Birdsville buildings in silhouette - more from the flight soon.
Wishing everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a great week to follow.
Birdsville Sunset
A real bonus when these two birds came past this sunset. :-) Click the PiP to enter the pub's main bar.
I shall be away and offline for several days. Best wishes, everyone

Meg's watching
For Macro Mondays group 24/7/2023, topic #319. "Macro of an eye"
This is my little West Highland Terrier called Meg - her portrait in the PiP.
Birdsville
Welcome to Birdsville, one of Australia's more iconic remote townships with (as shown in the PiP) a population of about 115 (+/- 7,000) depending on whether an "event" (such as the Birdsville Races) is happening. Best viewed large.
Taking the lead of the people sitting outside, I'll wish everyone a very Happy Bench Monday and a great week to come.
Birdsville welcome
If you're contemplating a visit to the outback, this sign at Birdsville welcomes you and lists the monthly events from April to September (it's too hot other times). If you attend any "what's on", though, you are likely to meet crowds (see the PiP for numbers!).
Watching
These young cattle came rushing up to watch what the strange person was doing with a camera. It's all beef cattle country in outback Queensland.
Outback fence
It looks to have been a good season here, but the fence gets lost in the landscape. The fence is probably not visible without viewing large, I've marked part of it with a note.
* VERY LATE UPDATE* I wasn't entirely happy with the tone of this image, as it was affected by the windscreen glass. See a re-edit in the note at left of the image.
Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and a great weekend.
