Clouds and fence
After a cold front passed up the east coast of Australia the weather cleared onshore, but these large cumulus and cumulonimbus (anvil) clouds were still offshore.
Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and an enjoyable weekend to follow.
Tropic benches
These benches are situated just a few metres within the Tropic of Capricorn, which is marked by a nearby cairn, shown in the PiP.
Happy Bench Monday and have a good week, everyone. I'll be heading away for a few days, look forward to catching up soon.

Black Kites
Black Kites were common while far inland, usually circling in groups over some food source. More images in the PiPs. Despite the name, these seem to be mainly a russet colour. They have a wingspan of about 52cm.
Different distances
I really should have included this image with my recent HFF posting. This shows the "Road Closed" fence and the distances to the next town (Bedourie) by the two different routes (76km / 141km).
Unwanted fence
Having flown over Lake Machattie and seeing it in flood, it was no great surprise to see that the road north from Birdsville to Bedourie had been closed (see PiP 1). Along the way on the detour we could see sunshine reflecting from the lake. (PiP 2).
Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and a great weekend to follow.
On (and off) Big Red
"Big Red" is the name of the largest sand dune in the Simpson Desert - and fortunately not far from Birdsville. This is the view from the top, looking across claypans to the next dune in the west. In the PiPs are images of vehicles descending from Big Red to the claypan. It's steep! The foreground plants in the second PiP are Saltbush.
Desert flood
As the sky shows, more rain was threatening when we visited Eyre Creek, near Birdsville. It was hundreds of metres wide, normally it has little if any water. These floods had come downstream from heavy rain a long way to the north about two months earlier. Stitched panorama, best viewed large.
Shaded benches
There's a bench here for everyone - in the open or under the shade. An interesting arrangement I'd not seen previously (may need to view large) with the recycled windmills providing the shade.
Wishing everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week following.
