Mobile benches
It was a real thrill, at our Easter gatherings of old Renaults, when this 1902 De Dion Bouton arrived on the scene. More images in the PiPs.
Wishing everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week to follow.
Get out of the way! Road train #3
The dust in my previous image was from vehicles travelling in the same direction as us. When it's coming the other way, be sure it's not a Road Train as they have right of way - and use it! On a narrow unsealed road, that means pulling over and stopping. View large for maximum impact.
Another grid
For those unfamiliar with cattle grids, they consist of a concrete boxed trench across the road, typically about 1 metre wide. Parallel steel bars about 100mm apart are across the trench. The structure works as a gate for livestock while allowing wheeled vehicles to cross. The concrete sometimes has a sharp lip which could damage tyes if not approached carefully (as here in the centre). Maybe view large to see detail.
Happy Fence Friday, everyone, and have a great weekend.
Georgina River
It's hard to imagine that the floods we encountered further south near Birdsville were here a few months earlier. This waterhole makes the river look larger, but it was taken from the crossing shown in the PiP which gives a better idea of the real size.
Campground dawn
A very pleasant dawn over the camping ground in Boulia, outback Queensland. Best viewed on black.

Marking Macro Monday
For Macro Mondays group 4/9//2023, topic #325. "Mirroring - Find an object of your choice and place it on a mirror or stand it next to it". Best viewed large.
The bridge
Also known locally as "the big coathanger", this has defined Sydney since its construction in the 1930s . Taken in the early days of my recent travels. Happy Fence Friday, everyone, and have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
I'm updating my posting of this as I have added it to the new group "Australia's Big Things". This may well have been what kicked off the whole "Big...(tourist attraction) thing" which spread nationwide here.

VIPER - Road Train #2
A short while ago I posted an image of a Road Train. Here's another - and more to come later. :-) When driving in Australia's ''outback', you almost certainly will encounter 'Road Trains'. The important point is that the roads in remote areas are narrow and these have the right of way - they use the whole road and other vehicles must pull off the side as they pass. View large for the best impression.
