Contrasting Auckland buildings
As I noted with my earlier image, it's good that Auckland has preserved so many older buildings, though it does lead to some interesting contrasts.
Ferry Building walls
Auckland seems to have preserved its classic buildings more than Australian cities. How good are the details on these walls on the Ferry Building in the Downtown/maritime area! Viewed large the building name is legible near the end roof.
Happy Wednesday Wall, everyone.
Auckland building
I think this interesting and very colonial Auckland building is part of the NZ High Court.
Auckland autumn
A misty morning in Auckland, viewed from a hotel window. The trees in the park are of European origin - as in Australia, the native New Zealand trees are not deciduous.
Happy Bench Monday and best wishes for the coming week, everyone.
Auckland tree
This tree is in an Auckland park. It reminded me of the film "Lord of the Rings" , though maybe that is not surprising as much of that film was shot in New Zealand.
Sky City Tower
The tower is seen in this image in its context with the associated casino and hotel. In the PiP it is seen from the other side (with no windows). As there also are fences on the building, I'll pop this up as a HFF image. Happy Fence Friday and have a good weekend, everyone. Best viewed on black.

Sky City Tower
Sky City Tower overshadows most images of Auckland. In the foreground are extensive roadworks, associated with the construction of a major railway tunnel project. Happy Fence Friday, everyone.
Tall wall
Taken from a hotel where I was staying, the curved wall on the left is the Sky City Tower which rises above Auckland to 328M. The tower makes a great reference point when touring the nearby countryside. Happy Wednesday Wall, everyone.
Outback - way back
My Mazda 1500 near Lake Eyre (the salt pans in the distance) on the Oodnadatta Track, way back in 1971. It seems that a large 4WD is now the usual vehicle in this area, but this was just a normal car (hub caps removed) and with a 1 year old child in the back seat. Copied from a slide.
I'm just back from my more recent trip and yet to work through my images. Coming soon.
