Supplies for stockmen
Copied (also PiP) from slides taken June 1971 on the Oodnadatta Track - see the notes with my previous image for more detail. Shortly after seeing the stockmen going out mustering, we were surprised to meet this camel-drawn wagon following with their supplies and camping gear. Camels had been used here extensively in the past in desert areas, but even in 1971 this was rare.
Noting that the driver is on a (very basic) bench, I'll wish everyone a Happy Bench Monday and a good week to follow.
Stockmen mustering
From an old slide taken in 1971. Heading up the Oodnadatta Track we met this group of stockmen going out (with their spare horses) to commence mustering (possibly several weeks) on Anna Creek Station. Anna Creek (23,677 km2 (9,142 sq mi) is the world's largest cattle station, 7 times larger than the largest US ranch and larger than countries such as Slovenia and Israel. The number of cattle varies with the conditions (drought etc) but typically is between 10-20,000.
As this work is now mechanised with aircraft and motorcycles, this has become a historic image!
Translations to US English: stockmen = cowboys, station = ranch, mustering = rounding up.

Highbury Private Hotel
Copied from a slide taken in 1964 and which had major colour problems - hence the mono conversion. I thought this was worth keeping for historical reasons, as this interesting building has gone and the area totally changed. Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday and a great weekend.
Uniting Church, Bundanoon
A small but pleasant sandstone wall in front of this timber walled church, reasonably typical of many in the forested areas of Australia. Wishing everyone a Happy Wednesday Wall.
Sydney in 1964
Copied from a Perutz slide taken in 1964. Apart from the bridge, Sydney is barely recognisable! Where are the buildings? :-)

Macro Hot Cross Bun
When it's Easter Monday and the weekly theme (355) for the Macro Mondays group is "Baked goods. Make a macro of a baked good, it can be bread rolls, pretzels, croissants etc", then images of Hot Cross Buns seem inevitable. Luckily I still had one remaining, a chocolate variety.
Happy Macro Monday and have a good week, everyone.

Multicultural bench
It rather appealed to me that the "Olde Bicycle Shoppe" promotes the town's Scottish links as "Home of the Highland Fling" while also housing a (very good) Thai restaurant - and all in Australia, so it's a real cultural mix. :-)
Wishing everyone a Happy Bench (and Easter) Monday, with a good week to follow.
Flinders Ranges
Copy of a slide taken in June 1971 of the northern Flinders Ranges in South Australia.
View over fence
A view from one of the lookouts in the National Park near Bundanoon.
Wishing everyone a Happy Fence Friday.
