From the bus

Heading north in New Zealand from Auckland, taken through the bus window (slight colour cast). Best viewed large. A totally different landscape to any in Australia, it could almost be Europe. See also PiPs.

Plastic wall

This plastic wall caught my attention while visiting Auckland's Mt Eden. In the background is Mt Hobson, with part of Auckland Harbour more distant at left. Happy Plastic Wednesday Wall, everyone.

Female Satin Bowerbird

I was surprised to look from the window and see this female Satin Bowerbird looking back up at me. I dashed off and grabbed the pocket camera to get this image (and some window reflections) while the bird itself left a calling card. :-)

Seahorse sculpture

This sculpture named "Seahorse" was made by Alex Figgis and is part of this year's annual Sculpture for Clyde sculpture competition, which opened today for public exhibition. It is made of welded scrap metal waste. More smaller sculptures were inside a large marquee (PiP). .
