Übrigens, siehst du diesen Invers-Effekt auch? Also, das je nach Betrachtung der Schatten nach aussen oder nach innen springt?

Auf den ersten Blick ist's ein Berg, wenn ich länger hinschaue, wird es eine Grube:-)

Gudrun, das menschliche Auge ist es gewohnt, dass das Licht in den allermeisten Fällen von oben (links) kommt; wie hier. Darum sollte man eigentlich hier eine Vertiefung sehen. Aber mit etwas Übung kann man es auch als Erhöhung sehen. Es ist daher erstaunlich, dass du es zuerst als Erhöhung gesehen hast :-)
Ich habe übrigens noch ein PIP 4 hinzugefügt, wo du das Bild kopfüber siehst.

I suppose "berg" means "konvex". I have the same thing. Even when the light naturally seem to come from up and left. And even when brains say the cut made with chain saw obviously reveals that the level seen left of dark shadows must be higher than on right side of the shadow.

And my brains keep on saying that the image is upside down =D

This is a strange case indeed!

Sami, yes, "berg" means konvex. But where did you read that?

Maybe you have to watch it after one or two Lapin Kulta, then maybe it works! ;-))

What comes to the question on title, I first thought the image is "upside down", and the light obviously came from the other direction. But I am not so sure any more... Tough one!

Although, the PiP on left seem to give the answer! =D

Sami, as you can see in the PIP1 (you can see the cut-out of this picture down in the middle, left) it's dislpayed correctly. The light comes (as usually) from the top (left). So you should see it correctly.
I added a PIP 4, where you can see the picture upside down.

Naja, bei solchen flach einfallenden Sonnenstrahlen auf flach profilierte Flächen trifft dieses Phänomen noch oft auf. Aber auf den ersten Blick habe ich es noch gar nicht gesehen.

B.K., ist zwar nicht das übliche Schnittbild, aber vielleicht wollte der 'Säger' auch den Passanten noch etwas bieten. In der Nähe stand übrigens noch ein ausgesägter Stuhl, also das künstlerische Potenzial ist vorhanden. Oder er hat für das TimberSports Event geübt. ;-)
