As always, you have captured the light and detail so well Keith. What a wonderful profile shot and the feathers on the wing have such lovely colours in them. The beak is amazing in colour and length....I think this pelican is a real beauty!

Thank you kind lady............they're part of a fairly new exhibit at WWT and they're wonderful to see. Trouble is it's almost impossible to get a decent full body shot of them without a fence or enclosure in the background.

Yesterday was glorious sunshine here so got out for a walk............but today has been cold and miserable, with maybe an hour or so of cloudy sunshine.............and I had to take the Boss to do our weekly shop too :-(

You should know though, that their flight feathers are heavily clipped on one side...........for you, that would probably mean having half your arm lopped off..!!

Magnificent!! The detail and colors of this bird are wonderful to appreciate and I love its position too. The background makes it easy to see this bird so clearly and I am envious of your fine luck with this heron! I have not been in the right place at the right time with my Sony to get shots like this, despite the fact that I've seen plenty of them on our trips! They are mocking me! :D In any event, NICE job and so fine at full size! :)

Nicely photographed with excellent detail. The variation in feather size and texture is really pronounced.

I agree a large view is rewarding.

This is beautifully photographed and revived a half forgotten memory of visiting WWT Arundel in the mid 1990s
