GORGEOUS!!!!! I love the details of this beautiful spider, and I'm delighted that you could get it into a place for a proper angle! Thanks for the information about it too, you know how fascinated I am with arachnids. Brings to mind a guest in the house...a couple of days ago, I noticed a black speck on the wall. Figuring what it was I leaned close and squeaked in happiness as it turned around and stared up at me--"Oh how I love you, little jumping spider!" Leaving it to continue its patrol, I would see it making its way down the hallway over the next couple of hours. Then, just before bed I was in our bathroom when I noticed a black speck near the floor, sitting on a baseboard. Not sure, I reached down with a gentle finger and lightly touched the speck...the speck turned and backed away, eliciting a gleeful giggle from me. "My little friend! I hope you've found some tasty meals!" At that I turned the light off and left it to a nocturnal hunt. Haven't seen it since but keep hoping for another gander! :)

I love Jumping Spiders........I quite often find them on the walls of my gardens shed. I've taken a few pics of them, but I've never got one I was really happy with.

Thank you all for your kind an generous comments. These spiders are an invasive species in this country, but are becoming more commonplace each year. I have seen at least 3 in my garden this year (including this one). Despite what you see in the media, they are generally harmless unless you annoy them.........a bit like me really..!!

Absolutely creepy. I feel apprehensive for all animals that have more than four legs. As Protagoras said, man is the measure of all things and well I celebrate it. I cannot deny that the photo is fantastic and even more terrifying when enlarged.

Wonderful capture. Up close its legs have a jelly-like appearance. Having had a spider bite when I was a kid.....(centuries ago)...I know it can sting. However, I like spiders and have never been afraid of them. I'm only afraid of big moths!! (go on...laugh!)

Thank you Eunice............I think spiders are like most animals and insects - they won't bother us if we don't bother them..!! I wouldn't say I like spiders..........rather that I think they're fascinating (and very photogenic). I'm not impressed when they come indoors though.

I wouldn't laugh...............my wife is afraid of moths as well, even the smallest ones.
