The Round Tower, Portsmouth Harbour

The Round Tower, Portsmouth Harbour
Situated at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour, the Round Tower was built around 1418 to defend the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour and prevent raids on the city by French ships. It is a Grade II listed building. Nowadays, it is a popular place for people to gather to watch ships entering and leaving the harbour.

This was taken on a grey, misty day, so converting the image to black and white seemed the right way to go as there wasn't much colour anyway.

I really like the disturbed seas and the terrific composition which helps set the fabulous atmosphere, I do agree b&W was the only way to go as it has set the tone perfectly.,

You have done well with this scene Keith. Lots of people would have left it alone in that kind of weather but your capture does it justice. I have been and explored parts of Portsmouth but cannot remember seeing this tower. Well done.
