Left its mark


Eating my breakfast this morning, I heard a thump against the house. Then a second smaller thump. I went to the kitchen door and saw this feather stuck to the glass. No shocked junco on the deck below.
I suspect a hawk was involved in the distracted junco's flight, though I saw no actual sign of him. But a few minutes earlier there'd been a dozen birds about, and now there were none. Very quiet.
(Until you focus the camera on the surface of the glass, you don't notice all the other little things, or I don't. . . .)
