At the feeder

Now that there's snow in the woods and the opportunistic goldfinches

have shifted into the city, our feeder is filled all day long with

them. The more placid juncos put up with them but the sheer number of

goldfinches can overwhelm a few juncos who no longer have hegemony at

the seed.



This junco seems to be holding his ground, but it's a matter of time

before a goldfinch gets his place. Back and forth, back and forth.
