Wrest Park: Chinese Bridge and Chinese Temple 2011…

The bridge dates from 1876, replacing a timber one built in the 1760s: list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1158909 . The temple was probably first built c.1760, repaired 1769 by Edward Stevens, and probably reworked or rebuilt 1876; also heavily restored C20: list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1321760 . The original aim was presumably to evoke a "Willow Pattern" scene; thanks to a modern fence immediately behind me, this seemed to be the only position from which one could capture the bridge and the temple together.
