Berlin Digs Out What was once a great newspaper building stands as a ghostly gutted-out shell in this altogether typical postwar scene from 1945. But the previously impassable street has been partially cleared of rubble and traffic has begun to move again. In the midst of ruins life refused to die (U.S. Army Signal Corps)
