Bloesempark - Blossompark

Opdracht was ‘bomen’.

Het kersenbloesempark in volle bloei. Dit park bestaat uit 400 kersenbomen, geplant rondom een betonnen cirkel. Het park bevindt zich in het Amsterdamse Bos in de gemeente Amstelveen. De bomen zijn geschonken door de Japan Womens Club aan Amstelveen (in Amstelveen is een grote Japanse gemeenschap). 200 bomen hebben een Nederlandse vrouwennaam, de andere 200 hebben een Japanse vrouwennaam. Het getal 400 staat voor 400 jaar betrekkingen tussen Nederland en Japan en de betonnen cirkel voor de Japanse vlag.
Deze week stonden de bomen in volle bloei en het park is een populaire bestemming in het hele bos. Met mooi en warm weer wordt hier door velen gepicknickt.

Challenge was ‘trees’.

The cherry blossom park in full bloom. This park consists of 400 cherry trees, planted around a concrete circle. The park is located in the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest) in the municipality Amstelveen. The trees were a gift of the Japan Womens Club in Amstelveen (there is a rather big Japanese community in Amstelveen). 200 trees carry a Japanese women’s name, 200 carry a Dutch women’s name. The total number of 400 stands for 400 years of relations between The Netherlands and Japan, de concrete circle symbolises the Japanese flag.
The park is a popular destination in the Amsterdamse Bos during the period of full bloom. With beautiful and warm weather it is a very busy place to picknick.
