Ingeraamd - Frame within a frame

Opgave voor zaterdag was ‘Ingeraamd’, voor de zondag muziek of een lied. Op de foto een wachtende passagier op een nat en winderig station Muiderpoort. Het raamwerk is van een reclamebord dat niet meer wordt gebruikt. Toevallig staat de man op 1/3 van de rand, de derdenregel. De foto is niet in scene gezet.

Het oorspronkelijke station lag van 1896 tot 1937 een paar honderd meter noordelijker, op maaiveld. In 1939 werd het huidige station geopend toen de Spoorwegwerken Oost gereed kwamen. Deze werken hielden in dat de spoorlijnen op dijklichamen werden gelegd en de spoorwegovergangen werden vervangen door spoorbruggen. Tijdens de oorlog werd dit station gebruikt om Joden naar concentratiekampen te deporteren.

Het station wordt alleen door stoptreinen van Amsterdam Centraal naar Utrecht of Hilversum aangedaan.

Muziek: in het lied wordt het leven beschreven van een vrouw tot de dag waarop de ander kwam. Deze dagen verliepen altijd als een vaste dienstregeling, net zoals de treinenloop. In de video spelen treinen een belangrijke rol. Uit de tekst: My train, I'm certain, left the station just when it was due ... And still on top of this I'm pretty sure it must have rained . . . Oh yes, I'm sure my life was well within it's usual frame. Het is het allerlaatste nummer door Abba opgenomen.

Challenge for saturday was ‘frame within a frame’, for sunday music or a song. On the photo a waiting passenger on a wet and windy platform of the Amsterdam Muiderpoort station. The frame is of a commercial sign which is not used anymore. By chance the man is standing on 1/3 of the frame, the rule of thirds. I did not stage this photo, it just happened.

The location of the original station was from 1896 to 1937 a few hundred meters more to the north. It was also on ground level. In 1939 the current station was opened when the Railroad Works East in Amsterdam were completed. These works involved the construction of the railroads on banks in stead of on ground level, and the replacement of level crossings by railroad bridges. During the war this station was used to deport Jews from Amsterdam to concentration camps.

The station is served only by local trains from Amsterdam Centraal to Utrecht or Hilversum.

Music: in the song the life of a woman is described until the day on which the other came. The days before progressed always according to a train timetable, just like clockwork. In the video trains do play an important role. From the lyrics: My train, I'm certain, left the station just when it was due ... And still on top of this I'm pretty sure it must have rained . . . Oh yes, I'm sure my life was well within it's usual frame. It is the very last song recorded by Abba.
