An interesting and succeeded contribution to the topic "speed" and also very fascinating to look at because of all the many confusing reflections.
As for your question ... I think that although the man sits in the tram and does not make a step himself, he is faster here on his way with the moving train than the pedestrians in the mirror image. At any rate, it looks to me as if the tram is passing by at that moment.
