Belted Kingfisher

Needless to say, I'm posting this extremely distant, heavily cropped image just for the record of having seen a Belted Kingfisher at Griffith Woods mid-winter, and not for the photographic quality, lol! There is quite a lot of open water in the creeks and river at this location, helped by the wonderfully mild weather we are having at the moment. I think the forecast said today would get up to 9C, which is a definite improvement on the brutally cold temperatures we've had this winter.
